Dr. Robert W. McDowell, “Dr. Rob” to the kids who visit McDowell Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, is a Beaver fan, having received a bachelors degree from Oregon State University in June of 1995. Receiving his doctorate degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry in May 1999, he joined Dr. Lynn Griffith for 19 months before acquiring the office on March 1, 2001. He is fortunate to be in a career he passionately enjoys every day.
Raised an Oregonian, Dr. McDowell was born in Portland and raised in La Grande. He enjoys activities that challenge him and incorporate his love of the great outdoors – including running, biking, hiking, and camping – while spending as much time as possible with his family. He coaches the kid’s sports and tries his hardest to keep up with them.
Through the years of doing dentistry, he has enjoyed being able to focus on other areas that are very meaningful to him, including serving Special Needs patients that require work done under general anesthesia at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. Dr. McDowell also donates his time and talent while doing volunteer work in Central America.
A very simple way Dr. McDowell treats his patients above all others is through practicing his personal philosophy: “Treat people the way you want to be treated and you keep friends.” Growing up in a smaller town taught him that hard work, determination and goal setting will get you to where you want to be.
There is never a surprise in his office. With open communication from the very first meeting to being a patient for a lifetime, Dr. McDowell and his team will listen to the primary person, YOU. We treat the problem first and then build a beautiful healthy smile and mouth for a lifetime. If you have concerns, needs and wants, the whole team will work together to reach your individual goals.
“I look forward to meeting you, your family and friends to begin a relationship for a lifetime of good oral health.” -Dr. Rob
